It’s time to get the New Year off to a great start with a little classical music. The traditional New Year’s concert of the Orchestra da camera del Locarnese (the region’s chamber orchestra) will be held in the Collegio Papio.

At Lake Maggiore, we like a loud, colourful start to the New Year. The artistic display begins at 6.30 p.m., and you’ll get the best view of the fireworks from Piazza G. Motta.

Carnival is a tradition with deep roots in Ticino. Each valley has its own special customs and rituals. The polo cup takes place in Ascona at the beginning of September. Six teams compete on horseback for the coveted trophy. It’s a spectacular event at Ascona Polo Club.

The best horsemen and -women in the world compete at this four-day competition, which takes place in September. Equestrian sports at the highest level – and all with free admission.
